Chianti Classico for less than £7? Worth a try. It's OK, but kind of falls short of what I'd expect from a Classico. Slightly plummy and baked I felt, and lacking the bright, juicy acidity that you'd get with the similarly priced Piccini offerings. Not bad for the price but if you think you're getting something fancy, think again.

1. "Kind of falls short of what I'd expect from a Classico" ...?? Where has this bloke been buying his Classico from (and for how much)? Even the Classico Chiantis bought in this country taste like Montepulciano table wine and nothing like the ones you drink when you're over there.
ReplyDelete2. "Lacking the bright, juicy acidity" ...? Not adjectives I'd ever use to describe a good Chianti. Perhaps try new world? The bottle of this wine I had tasted years older than it is.
3. "If you think you're getting something fancy, think again"... Fancy? At 6.99?? If you want something "fancy", try spending more.
