M. Chapoutier Cotes du Roussillon 2006

Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most respected wine producers of the Rhone. This is one of those producers that, if you see the name on the label, you have a very good chance of getting a good bottle of wine.

This wine doesn't come from the Rhone, however. It comes from Roussillon, the region in the south of France just bordering Spain. A blend of Syrah and Grenache, this is a smooth, very pleasant red wine, and a bargain on offer at £5.99. It's just a great example of a affordable, good quality French red. Subtle and pleasing, and above all, delicious. This is the sort of wine deal that I am always on the lookout for, and the sort of wine that that I would gladly have on my table anytime.

  1. Hi, I agree with your comments and would suggest you try Vina Fuerte old vine grenache from Waitrose. It's another crowd pleaser at £5.50 (as I remember)
