Cuveé de Richard Rouge VdP l'Aude 2008

Oz Clarke was praising this wine in a broadcast via his Twitter account.  Hmm..I thought, what a great way to get a leg up on everyone else, to be aware of critically acclaimed wines before any one's had time to publish the articles in media like newspapers, wine guides or even blogs.

This is available at Majestic, and there are some other good deals on there at the moment so I thought I'd give it a try, and why not for only £4.39.  Oz described this blend of Grenache, Carignan and Merlot as a "perfect summer red glugger", and a glugger it certainly is.  Soft, fruity and with absolutely no finish whatsoever, you need to glug it to keep reminding yourself what it tastes like.  It seemed like we finished the bottle in about 10 minutes.

Good for the price, providing you know what you are getting.  Personally I'm not a huge fan of the flavour of this wine, it has that raspberry character you get in Southern French reds that I really don't like, but to each his own.
